Who We Are
Sowing Seeds Speech Therapy Center is a pediatric speech therapy practice that supports children and adolescents between the ages 5 to 17 years old with communication disorders in the areas of language, speech sound production, and fluency. Our practice focuses on increasing communication skills through a "family-style" approach, embodying a combination of specialized therapy techniques and parent/guardian collaboration. In addition to "sowing seeds" of speech and language strategies that support communication growth, we also focus on lessons that "sow seeds" of good character, such as reading books or social stories, relating activities to the client's personal experiences, or role-playing scenarios that encourage growth in the areas of kindness, patience, and gentleness with themselves and others. Speech therapy services are offered via teletherapy or in the client's home.

About Me
My name is Parizah Knowles and I will be your child's speech therapist! I graduated from University of West Georgia with a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2016. I have been working as a licensed speech-language pathologist in Cobb County for the past 8 years, with experience in working with children and teens from ages 2 to 17 years old in daycares/preschools and homes, as well as elementary, middle, and high school in Cobb County School District (CCSD). I am also a Cobb County resident and former CCSD student, graduating from Hillgrove High School in 2010. In these 8 years, I have gained a wealth of knowledge that has helped me develop the current speech therapy practices that I implement today. It is with this knowledge that I received from students, clients, parents/guardians, and colleagues that I decided it was time to open my own practice and continue serving the community that I love.
What is speech therapy?
Speech therapy is an intensive therapeutic approach provided by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to remediate communication disorders in the areas of language, speech sound production, voice, fluency, swallowing, and pragmatics. Therapy is designed to teach skills and strategies that are necessary to help individuals improve areas of weakness, with an emphasis on developing and implementing an individualized plan that suits each person's specific needs. The goal is to always teach clients the skill and encourage gradual independence until support from the SLP is either limited or no longer needed.

Our Approach
Sowing Seeds Speech Therapy Center is a speech therapy practice that serves children and adolescents between ages 5 and 17 years old who have communication delays in the areas of language, speech sound production, and fluency. These communication delays may look like, but are not limited to:

-
Speaking with only a few words or not speaking at all
-
Limited use of vocabulary, such as only naming items but not requesting, greeting, or rejecting
-
Gesturing, such as pointing or taking an adult's hand, instead of speaking
-
Inability to understand what your child is saying
-
Stuttering
We address these needs by using a variety of therapy techniques, offering parent coaching, and providing resources for parents to continue learning about their child's needs. Our practice currently serves children through teletherapy across the state of Georgia, as well as in your home for residents of Marietta, Smyrna, Austell, Powder Springs, and Mableton, GA.
